Japanese numbers

I'm having a blast learning conversational Japanese.

Yesterday, the class learned how to say the numbers.  It's all fairly easy until you get to the really high numbers, such as 26,729.  In this case, you have to do this:

20,000     ni an
6,000      roku sen
700         nana hyaku
20           ni jyu
9             kyu

So, in order to say 27,729 it's roku sen nana hyaku ni jyu kyu.  That's a mouth full!  We even asked the teacher if there was ANY way to shorten it and the answer was iie (no!)

On a side note, we have a Taiko performance on 23 October for the International Boy Scouts (I had no idea they were international!)  With the help of my favorite sensei, Ryan, I may be able to preform with him!
