Last Friday, I went to the Misawa International Center to learn how to prepare and roll sushi.
It was a wonderful experience because everybody received 'hands on' training. Aside from the 'regulars' that have attended the class for months (seriously; are there are still cliques post-college?) I met a couple of really nice people and learned to appreciate yet another part of the Japanese culture!
Lay the Nori (seaweed) shiny side down on the bamboo mat, then spread the rice on top.
This was my first attempt at rolling and cutting the sushi - beginners' luck! My second try wasn't caught on film. Let's just say that too much rice doesn't make a nice looking sushi roll!
She's teaching us how to make Miso soup.
This is what the Miso soup should look like. I'll have a whole other blog about my Miso controversy soon....
